What we collect, why, where it's kept and how to ask us to change or delete it. In short: very little, and never sold.

Who we are

Bath1 (bath1.co.uk) is run by Shared Ground. We decide how the personal information described here is used, which makes us the "controller" under UK data protection law (the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018).

Questions or requests: hello@bath1.co.uk.

What we collect

When you browse

You can use Bath1 without telling us who you are. We don't use cookies, and nothing on the site tracks you from page to page. Like every website, our host Netlify keeps short-lived server logs, which include your IP address and browser type, to keep the site running and secure. We use Netlify Analytics, which counts visits from those logs in total only. It doesn't identify you, and it uses no cookies.

When you use "Add your event"

The forms ask for:

  • Event form: your organisation's name, the event details, and your email address.
  • Organiser profile form: your organisation's details and logo, a key contact's name and role, and your email address.

Your email address is only used to check details with you and tell you when a listing goes live. It is never shown on the site.

On organiser profiles

Profiles may show a key contact's name and job title. We only publish these when the organisation has told us it's happy for us to, using the tick box on the profile form, or when they already appear on the organisation's own public website.

Why we use it

  • To run Bath1: checking and publishing listings, and replying to you. Our lawful basis is legitimate interests: keeping a free, accurate public guide to business events in Bath.
  • To show a named contact on a profile: with the organisation's consent, which can be withdrawn at any time.
  • To keep the site secure and working: legitimate interests.

We never sell personal information, and we don't use it for advertising.

Who handles it for us

We use a small number of services to run the site. Each one only handles what it needs to.

Where information is handled outside the UK, these providers protect it with the safeguards UK law requires, such as the UK Extension to the EU–US Data Privacy Framework or the UK's approved contract clauses.

How long we keep it

  • Form submissions: deleted 12 months after we've dealt with them.
  • Published listings: kept while they're current. Past events are removed from our database within about three months.
  • Organiser profiles: kept until the organisation asks us to change or remove them.
  • Server logs: kept by Netlify for a short period under its own policy.

Your rights

You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, to correct it, to delete it, or to object to how we use it. If we publish your name on a profile, you can ask us to take it down. Email hello@bath1.co.uk and we'll reply within one month.

If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint. We'd appreciate the chance to put it right first.

Links to other sites

Every "Find out more" and "Visit website" link takes you to an organiser's own site. Their privacy policies apply there, including when you book.

Changes

If we change how we use personal information, we'll update this page and the date at the top.
